Moonrise Cottage is Dog-Friendly

  • Equipment: We provide 2 crates for your use. For their safety, please crate your pups when you are not home or able to watch them. We also provide certain other pet supplies for your convenience - water bowls, toys, dog towels, etc.  Please clean these after use and return for the next guest.
  • Yard: Our backyard is fully fenced and suitable for containing most dogs. The front yard has a shorter picket fence that is only suitable for containing some dogs depending on size and agility. Please inspect the yard and use your best judgment based on your  knowledge of your pet before allowing them off leash in the yard. Remember that SSI may be hotter than what your pet is used to, so be sure to provide plenty of water and shade. Naturally you are expected to pick up after your dog.
  • Baths: If you need to wash your dog after a day exploring, please either use one of the outside showers or the laundry tub in the garage.
  • Flea and Tick Protection: Due to the climate, fleas can be a real problem on SSI.  Please be certain that your dogs are current on their flea treatment.  Some favorites are Nexgard, Comfortis, Vectra, and Frontline Plus. You should consult with your veterinarian to determine which product is the best fit for your pet.
  • Please Be Considerate: SSI is very dog-friendly and most of our neighbors have dogs. Pick up after your dog on walks, and don't leave a barking dog outside for hours at a time.  Accidents happen...but please address accidents in the house right away to mitigate damage. You will find cleaning supplies under the sinks and in the garage. If you allow your dogs to lie on the furniture, please cover with a blanket or sheet. The couch slipcovers should be washed immediately if soiled to prevent stains. This type of cleanup is beyond the scope of the provided maid service.

Beach & Village

From the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day between the hours of 9am and 6pm, dogs are only allowed between Beach Access Points 1 and 6. At all other times the only beach restriction is that the dog must be under the owner's control - which means a 10' leash if your dog doesn't respond to voice commands. Of course, you also must clean up after your dog.

Many restaurant patios in the Village are dog friendly and provide water bowls so your dogs can share a drink with you. Palm Coast Coffee and Iguana's are especially welcoming of furry friends. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the Village Pier.
